To a stirred solution of 3-(3-1,2-benzisoxazol-3-ylmethyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl)-hexanoic acid ethyl ester (70 mg, 0.17 mmol) in THF (5 ml) and water (0.5 ml) was added lithium hydroxide monohydrate (22 mg, 0.52 mmol). Upon complete consumption of the starting material, the reaction was concentrated to low volume and diluted with water (20 ml) and acetic acid (0.5 ml). The resulting heterogeneous mixture was stirred for 1 h after which time the precipitated product was collected via filtration. The solid was washed with water and dried on house vacuum at 40° C. (18 h, over P2O5) to give 52 mg (80%) of the desired product. LCMS (ESMS): m/z 380.41 (M+H+).
