Procedure

A cold (0°C.) solution of methyl 5-cyclopropyl-3-((trans)-2-(trifluoromethyl)cyclopropyl)isoxazole-4-carboxylate (193 mg, 0.7 mmol) in THF (2.3 mL) was treated with the dropwise addition of lithium aluminum hydride (1.4 mL, 1M solution in THF). Afte(2 hr of stirring, the reaction was cooled to 0°C. and treated with the dropwise addition of 1N HCl (aq.) until a solution persisted. The reaction was then extracted with EtOAc. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4), filtered, concentrated, and chromatographed (SiO2, linear gradient, 0-80%, EtOAc in hexanes) to give the title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 4.63 (d, J=4.5 Hz, 2H), 2.31 (m, 1H), 2.14 (m, 1H), 2.01 (m, 1H), 1.67 (dd, J=5.1, 4.9 Hz, 1H), 1.42 (m, 2H), 1.10 (m, 2H), 1.05 (m, 2H), MS m/z 248.1 (M+1).
