8-(5-Bromopyridin-2-yl)-1,4-dioxaspiro[4,5]decane-8-carbonitrile (1 g) described in Reference Example 82 was stirred in concentrated hydrochloric acid (5 ml) at 100° C. for eight hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was made alkaline by the addition of a saturated aqueous solution of potassium carbonate and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to give the titled compound (85 mg) as a white solid.
