To a stirred solution of tert-butyl 3-carbamothioylpyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (100 mg, 0.44 mmol) in dry dioxane (1 mL) was added 1-chloropropan-2-one (80 mg, 0.87 mmol) and triethylamine (132 mg, 1.31 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for over night and refluxed for overnight. The reaction mixture was added EtOAc (10 mL), washed with water (5 mL×3) and brine (5 mL), dried over Na2SO4, filtered, concentrated and purified by preparative TLC (PE:EA=1:1) to give tert-butyl 3-(4-methylthiazol-2-yl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (90 mg, 75%) as a yellow oil.
