Potassium carbonate (2.5 g, 18.09 mmol), iodoethane (0.103 ml, 1.281 mmol) and 7-morpholin-4-yl-2-(2-quinolin-2-yl-ethyl)-3,5-dihydro-2H-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridine-1,6-dione (0.5 g, 1.281 mmol, see Example 15) were suspended in acetonitrile (30 ml). The suspension was heated in a three-neck round bottom flask at about 60° C. for about 2 h. After cooling to r.t. LC-MS analysis indicated complete conversion. The reaction mixture was diluted with water. The aqueous layer was extracted with DCM (2×100 ml). The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to give a yellow solid which was purified by preparative HPLC to give the title compound (190 mg, 0.454 mmol, 35.5 yield) as a yellow solid.
