Procedure
To 26.59 g of 2,4-dichloro-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline and 20.39 g of triethylamine in 250 ml of warm dimethylacetamide was added to 23.1 g of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6,7-dimethoxyisoquinoline in 300 ml of dry dimethylacetamide and the reaction mixture stirred at room temperatures under exclusion of moisture for 16 hours. The precipitate was filtered and the filtrate concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure. The residual product was recrystallized from methanol, 40.6 g, m.p. 183°-186° C.
