Procedure
In a 100 mL round bottom flask was added 0.02 mol piperidine, 0.02 mol pyridine, 0.02 mol CyTMG, 1 mmol biphenyl as G.C. internal standard and 20 mL toluene. This solution was cooled to -10° C. using an ice salt bath and carbon dioxide was added subsurface to the cooled solution for 30 min. After this period of time the preformed carbamate solution was added all at once by cannula to a cooled (-10° C.) toluene (20 mL) solution of thionyl chloride (0.02 mol). The reaction mixture was stirred at -10° C. for 15 min. under atmospheric CO2 pressure.
