Procedure

To a solution of 6-methoxynaphthalen-2-ol (2.00 g, 11.5 mmol) in DMF (20 mL) was added NBS (2.15 g, 12.1 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 4 hours. The resulting mixture was diluted with EtOAc (300 mL), washed with H2O (100 mL×5) and brine (100 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give the crude product, which was purified by silica gel column (PE/EtOAc=20/1) to give the product (2.10 g, yield 72%).
