To a stirred solution of ethyl 2-[2,4-difluoro-3-[[5-(3-fluorophenyl)-2,3-dimethyl-phenyl]methylamino]phenoxy]acetate (120 mg, 0.27 mmol, 1.0 eq.) in a mixture of THF (5 mL) and MeOH (5 mL) at room temperature was added NaOH (2M aqueous solution, 5 mL, 10 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. The reaction was then diluted with EtOAc and the aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic extracts were washed with water and brine, dried (Na2SO4) filtered and evaporated in vacuo to give the title compound as a gummy solid (112 mg, 94%).
