To a solution of 4-(((2-nitro-4-(quinolin-2-ylmethoxy)phenyl)amino)methyl)benzonitrile (2.8 g, 6.7 mmol) in EtOAc (100 mL) was added SnCl2.2H2O (9.4 g, 42 mmol) and the mixture heated to 70° C. for 3 h. The mixture was then cooled to RT and basified to pH=8 by addition of 2 M Na2CO3 and stirred at RT. After 12 hours, the mixture was extracted with EtOAc and concentrated to dryness. The residue was then purified by FCC to afford 0.69 g of the title compound. MS (ESI): mass calcd. for C24H20N4O, 380.45; m/z found 381.2 [M+H]+.
