A mixture of 4-(3-fluorophenylamino)benzoic acid (0.040 g, 0.173 mmol), 2-(5-chloro-1H-indol-3-yl)ethanamine hydrochloride (0.040 g; 0.173 mmol), HATU (0.072 g; 0.190 mmol) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.075 mL; 0.432 mmol) in DMF (3 mL), was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate and sodium hydrogen sulfate, the organic layer was washed with sodium carbonate, brine, dried and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude mixture was purified by flash chromatography on silica (eluent 1 to 10% ethyl acetate in dichloromethane) to yield 0.027 g (39%) of the title compound as a colourless solid.
