Procedure
A mixture of methyl 4-bromo-2-(bromomethyl)benzoate (0.500 g, 1.62 mmol), trans-4-aminocyclohexanol hydrochloride (0.295 g, 1.95 mmol), and potassium carbonate (0.44 g, 3.2 mmol) in ethanol (5.0 mL) was stirred in a sealed vial at 50° C. for 4 h. After cooling, the mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (10 mL), and was filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was triturated with ethyl ether (3 mL). The precipitates were collected by filtration and washed with ethyl ether to afford the desired product. LCMS (M+H)+=309.9/312.0.
