Procedure
Cyclohexanol (0.501 g) in tetrahydrofuran (3.5 mL) was treated with NaH (0.1 g) until gas evolution ceased. 2-Fluoro-4-iodo-3-methylpyridine (0.237 g) in tetrahydrofuran (1.5 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 0.5 hours and was quenched with ice-water. The resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layer was washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated. The residue was purified by preparative TLC, and was eluted with petroleum ether to provide the title compound.
