Procedure
2-(2'-Methylphenyl)-7-methoxymethyloxyquinoline-4-carbonylguanidine (0.9 g) formed in Example 45 was heat-stirred in 20 ml (0.5M) of an isopropyl alcohol solution of hydrochloric acid at approximately 60° C. for 3.5 hours. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool, then neutralized with a 5% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, and concentrated. The residue was filtered, and the crystals obtained were washed with water, and dried to obtain 0.40 g of the above-mentioned compound as a brown crystal. m.p. 202°-208° C.
