The reaction was carried out as described in General Procedure 2 with commercially available 5-chloro-2-trichloromethyl-1H-benzoimidazole (100 mg, 0.37 mmol) and piperazine (64 mg, 0.75 mmol) in THF (3 mL). Purification afforded 10 mg (10%) of the title compound. MS (ESI): mass calculated for C12H13ClN4O, 264.08; m/z found, 265.2 [M+H]+. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6): 13.29 (s, 1H), 7.67 (br s, 2H), 7.33 (d, J=8.6 Hz, 2H), 4.50-4.47 (m, 2H), 3.71 (t, J=4.6 Hz, 2H), 2.41-2.39 (m, 4H), 2.22 (s, 3H).
