Procedure
Tert-butyl[6-hydroxy-2-isobutyl-1-oxo-4-(2-thienyl)-1,2-dihydro-3-isoquinolinyl]methylcarbamate (0.15 g, 0.35 mmol) was dissolved in a solution of 4N hydrogen chloride in ethyl acetate solution (5 ml.) The solution was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduce pressure, and the residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate-diisopropyl ether to give 3-(aminomethyl)-6-hydroxy-2-isobutyl-4-(2-thienyl)-1(2H)-isoquinolinone hydrochloride (0.10 g, 83.3%) as crystals.
