Procedure
A mixture of 1,2,4-trifluoro-5-nitrobenzene (4.0 mL, 35 mmol), morpholine (3.1 mL, 35 mmol), and K2CO3 (4.8 g, 35 mmol) in DMSO (35 mL) was stirred at room temperature overnight. The mixture was diluted with AcOEt and washed with water and brine. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was recrystallized from AcOEt to give the title compound (10 g, 63% yield) as a pale yellow solid: 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6): δ ppm 3.15-3.49 (4H, m), 3.50-3.90 (4H, m), 7.13 (1H, dd, J=14.3, 7.5 Hz), 8.01 (1H, dd, J=13.6, 7.5 Hz). LC-MS (ESI) m/z 245 [M+H]+.
