3-[8-(2,6-difluorophenyl)-2-(methylthio)-7-oxo-7,8-dihydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl]-4-methyl-N-(phenylmethyl)benzamide (0.12 g 0.227 mmol) was dissolved in CH2Cl2 (5 mL) and 50-60% 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid (0.106 g, 0.34 mmol) was added and the mixture stirred for 10 min. The solvents were pumped off, and the residue taken up in EtOAc and washed with H2O, brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 filtered and evaporated. The crude product which contained a small amount of sulfone, was flashed on silica gel (20 g) eluted with a hexane to EtOAc gradient to isolate the title compound. mp (dec) 268-270° C. LC-MS m/z 545 (M+H)+, 1.87 min (ret time).
