In a manner similar to the method described in Example 380, a solution of the above methyl 4-((2R,3S,4R,5S)-3-(3-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)-4-(4-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)-4-cyano-5-neopentylpyrrolidine-2-carboxamido)-2-ethoxybenzoate (89.7 mg, ˜0.13 mmol) in THF (8 ml) was treated with lithium hydroxide hydrate (40.9 mg, 0.974 mmol) in water (4 mL) and heated at 70° C. for 3 hrs and then stirred at room temperature to give rac 4-{[(2R,3S,4R,5S)-4-(4-Chloro-2-fluoro-phenyl)-3-(3-chloro-2-fluoro-phenyl)-4-cyano-5-(2,2-dimethyl-propyl)-pyrrolidine-2-carbonyl]-amino}-2-ethoxy-benzoic acid as a white lyophilized solid (33.5 mg., 38%) after HPLC purification.
