1-Adamantanemethylamine (0.152 g, 0.92 mmol, Aldrich, Milwaukee, Wis.) was added to Ethylene glycol bis[succinimidylsuccinate] (EGS) (0.2 g, 0.43 mmol, Pierce, Rockford, Ill.) in solution in 10 mL of anhydrous dichloromethane. The resulting solution was stirred for 5 h at room temperature. It was then acidified with 0.1 N HCl and extracted with dichloromethane. The organic phase was dried with MgSO4 and then concentrated to dryness under vacuum. This afforded 0.22 g of solid (yield 90%).
