Lithium hydroxide (0.024 g, 0.58 mmol) was added to a stirred suspension of compound 77C from the preceding step (0.06 g, 0.15 mmol) in 8 mL of tetrahydrofuran/water (3:2) at room temperature. After 18 hours the resulting clear solution was diluted with 75 mL of water, stirred, and acidified with aq HCl. After −1 hour the precipitate was filtered off, rinsed 3× with water, and dried to afford 0.04 g (69% yield) of the title compound as a white solid; mp 229-230° C. (dec).
