Procedure

A stirred solution of 1-ethyl-3-(6-hydroxy-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-urea (35 mg, example 84-c) and thiophene-2-sulfonyl chloride (18 mg) in acetone (3 ml) was treated with triethylamine (25 μl). After stirring at ambient temperature for 4 hours, the reaction mixture was evaporated. The residue was filtered and the filtrate evaporated. The residue was directly purified by LCMS triggered purification to give thiophene-2-sulfonic acid 2-[3-(2-ethyl)-ureido]-1H-benzoimidazol-5-yl ester (14 mg) as a off-white solid Mass spectrum: 367 [M+H]+; retention time=7.88 minutes.
