Procedure
To a solution of 26 g 3-Hydroxybenzoic acid and 43 g Na2CO3 in 45 mg H2O at 100° C. was added dropwise a solution of 48 g KI and 48 g iodine in 135 ml H2O. After heating for additional 3 h the mixture was cooled to RT and acidified with concentrated HCl. The title compound precipitated as a white solid and was collected by filtration.
