1 g of 1-(3-tert.-Butyl-2-phenyl-5-oxazolidinyl-methoxy)-7-chloro-4-methylisoquinoline is heated to 80° in 10 ml of 1N hydrochloric acid for 10 minutes. The reaction mixture is extracted with ether. The ethereal phase is discarded and the aqueous phase worked up to yield the title compound in free base form. M.p. 116°-117°.
