Procedure
N sodium hydroxide (81 μL) was added to a solution containing methyl 5-fluoromethoxypyridine-2-carboxylate (50 mg) in tetrahydrofuran/water (2 mL, 3/1), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes. Water (1 mL) was added to the reaction solution, followed by further stirring for 20 minutes. The reaction solution was made acidic with 5 N hydrochloric acid. Ethyl acetate and a saturated sodium chloride solution were added to the reaction solution, and the organic layer was separated. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the insoluble matter was separated by filtration. The filtrate was concentrated to obtain the title compound (22.6 mg).
