Procedure
1 N hydrochloric acid (1 mL) was added to a solution of tert-butyl (±)-{(3aS*,7aR*)-7a-[3-(benzhydrylidene-amino)phenyl]-3a,6,7,7a-tetrahydro-4H-pyrano[4,3-d]thiazol-2-yl}carbamate (165 mg) in ether (1 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for one hour. The reaction solution was neutralized with a sodium bicarbonate solution, the organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by NH-silica gel column chromatography to obtain the title compound (77 mg).
