Procedure

Using analogous reaction conditions and work up as described for the preparation of 62A above, 2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrido[4,3-b]indol-1-one (I-62a: 200 mg, 1.08 mmol) was reacted with 3-bromo-4-trifluoromethylpyridine (368.4 mg, 1.63 mmol), 8-hydroxy quinoline (31.3 mg, 0.216 mmol), K2CO3 (223.5 mg, 1.62 mmol), copper iodide (41.14 mg, 0.216 mmol) and DMSO (5 mL) to afford the crude product. Purification by column chromatography on silica gel (2% methanol in DCM), followed by preparative HPLC afforded 5 mg of the product (1.5% yield).
