To a solution of 1,3-dibromo-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzene (3.03 g, 10 mmol) in dioxane (20 mL) was added Pd(PPh3)4 (300 mg, 0.26 mmol), prop-1-en-2-ylboronic acid (1.0 g, 12 mmol), K2CO3 (2.8 g, 20 mmol) and water (1 mL) under N2. The mixture was stirred at 90° C. overnight, concentrated and purified by CC (hexane) to afford compound P28a (1.9 g, 71%) as an oil.
