To a mixture of 4′-methyl-5-(methylsulfonyl)biphenyl-3-carboxylic acid (50 mg, 0.17 mmol), N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N′-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (36 mg, 0.19 mmol), 1-hydroxybenzotriazole hydrate (26 mg, 0.17 mmol), and CH2Cl2 (2 mL) were added (S)-2-aminopropan-1-ol (19 mg, 0.26 mmol) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.045 mL, 0.26 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by preparative HPLC (100×20.2 mm, C18 column; 30-60% MeCN-water[10 mM Et2NH]) to yield a white solid.
