Procedure

A mixture of 4-[5-(6-methoxy-pyridin-3-yl)-1H-[1,2,4]triazol-3-yl]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.23 g, prepared in analogy to intermediate example 44) in THF (15 mL) was treated with 4M HCl in dioxane (1.19 mL) and the reaction stirred at 50° C. for 1 hour. On cooling, the reaction was stirred overnight at rt. The volatiles were removed in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in water, made basic with 2M aqueous NaOH solution and extracted with EtOAc. The aqueous phase was extracted with CH2Cl2/MeOH, the organic phase was washed with brine and concentrated in vacuo to give the crude title compound which was used without further purification.
