To a mixture of 2-(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)-1H-indole-7-amine (0.31 g), 4-oxo-4-(2-thienyl)butanoic acid (0.89 g), 1H-1,2,3-benzotriazol-1-ol (0.75 g) and N,N-dimethylformamide (20 mL) was added N-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-N′-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (1.06 g), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. Water was added to the reaction mixture, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with saturated brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. The residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography and the title compound (1.21 g, yield. 69%) was obtained as colorless crystals from a fraction eluted with ethyl acetate-hexane (3:1, volume ratio). melting point 140-141° C.
