To a stirred solution of 6-bromo-N-((4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-3-yl)methyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-4-carboxamide (0.5 g, 1.33 mmol) in DMF (5 mL), K2CO3 (0.275 g, 1.99 mmol) and tert-butyl 4-bromopiperidine-1-carboxylate (0.529 g, 2.01 mmol) was added. Resulting reaction mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 12 h. On completion of reaction, water was added to it and extraction was carried out using DCM; the combined organic layers were washed with water, brine and dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. Solvent was removed under reduced pressure and residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to obtain the desired intermediate (0.5 g, 67.2%).
