2.08 g of potassium carbonate was added to a solution of 3.0 g of 3-hydroxy-2-(methoxycarbonyl)methoxypyridine and 2.95 g of N-(2,5-difluoro-4-nitrophenyl)acetamide in 40 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide. The mixture was stirred for 2 hours at temperature from 60 to 70° C. Then, the mixture was cooled to room temperature, poured into water, extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated saline, dried over magnesium sulfate, and concentrated to obtain crude crystal. The crude was washed with diisopropyl ether to obtain 3.67 g of N-[2-fluoro-5-{2-(methoxycarbonyl)methoxy-3-pyridyloxy}-4-nitrophenyl]acetamide.
