Procedure

0.2 g of the compound obtained in Step 3, 0.1 g of Iron and 0.15 ml of concentrated HCl were added to 3 ml of methanol, and stirred under 1 atmospheric hydrogen atmosphere for 18 hours. The reaction mixture was filtrated through a cellite pad, the pad was washed with methanol, the filtrate and wash solution were combined, and distilled under a reduced pressure to obtain a residue that gave 0.15 g of the title compound (yield 79%).
