To a solution of ethyl [(6S)-6-(3,5-difluorophenyl)-3,3-dimethyl-2,4-dioxopiperidin-1-yl]acetate from Step A (170 mg, 0.501 mmol) in THF (2 mL) and H2O (1 mL) was added LiOH monohydrate (36 mg, 0.858 mmol) and the resulting mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 18 h. The reaction mixture was quenched with 1 N HCl (1 mL, 1 mmol), concentrated in vacuo and dried to afford the title compound. MS: m/z=312 (M+1).
