To a stirred solution of 6-tert-butyl 2-ethyl 5-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-7-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2,6-dicarboxylate (1.14 g, 2.53 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (5 mL) was added TFA (5 mL). The reaction was heated to 60° C. for 30 h and concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 5-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(ethoxycarbonyl)-7-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-6-carboxylic acid (1 g, 100% crude yield) as a yellow oil.
