The sulfinamide from Step 3 (450 mg, 0.84 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (3 mL) and the solution was cooled in ice. HCl (4M in dioxane, 0.5 mL) was added and the solution was stirred for 30 min. NaHCO3 was added to neutralize the solution and methanol was removed by evaporation. The residue was extracted into CH2Cl2; this was washed with water, brine, dried (MgSO4) and evaporated and the residue was purified by chromatography on silica using 10-25% ethyl acetate in iso-hexane to give the product (500 mg).
