Palladium triflate [Pd(Tfo)2 ] was prepared from wet palladium (II) nitrate [Pd(NO3)2 ] or palladium (II) acetate [Pd(AcO)2 ] with excess of triflic acid [TfOH] at room temperature (typically about 18 to about 30° C.). The liquid was evaporated from the reaction mixture under vacuum at 150 ° C and dry palladium triflate was obtained and stored under inert gas for further use as a catalyst in the aryl coupling reactions.
