Procedure

(7-Bromo-3-chloro-6-hydroxy-5-methoxy-benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl)-morpholin-4-yl-methanone (7.0 g) was dissolved in 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (35 ml) and di-isopropylethylamine was gradually added. The reaction solution was warmed at 80° C. for 3 hours. Then water (350 ml) was added. The reaction solution was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The product was extracted into ethyl acetate. The organic phase was washed with 1M hydrochloric acid and a solution of sodium sulphate, evaporated and dried in vacuum. The product was purified by flash chromatography using heptane-ethyl acetate as an eluent.
