To a solution of 1-[6-(5-{1-[3-fluoro-4-(methylsulfanyl)phenyl]-2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)ethyl}-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)pyridin-3-yl]ethane-1,2-diol (367 mg) in a mixed solvent of tetrahydrofuran (3 mL), methanol (3 mL) and water (3 mL) was added Oxone (registered trademark) (593 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hr. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, and washed with saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with saturated brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated to give the title compound (330 mg, 84%) as a pale-yellow amorphous solid. MS: 489 (MH+).
