A solution of 1S,2R,3S,5R)-3-amino-5-(2,6-dichloro-purin-9-yl)-cyclopentane-1,2-diol trifluoroacetate (0.304 g, 1.00 mmol) in THF (10 ml) is treated with DIPEA (0.387 g, 3.00 mmol) followed by propionyl chloride (0.093 g, 1.00 mmol). The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solvent is removed in vacuo and the title compound is obtained after purification by reverse phase column chromatography (Isolute™ C18, 0-100% acetonitrile in water −0.1% TFA). MS (ES+) m/e 360 (MH+).
