A mixture comprising N-[(1S,2R,3S,4R)-4-(6-{[Bis-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-methyl]-amino}-2-chloro-purin-9-yl)-2,3-dihydroxy-cyclopentyl]-propionamide (1.6 g, 2.82 mmol), and hydrazine monohydrate (14 ml) is stirred at room temperature for 72 h. Then isopropyl alcohol (10 ml) is added and the solvent was decanted off to afford a gummy mixture. It is dissolved in water (10 ml) and stirred for 12 h. The fine solid obtained is filtered, washed with water and dried in vacuo to afford the title product which is used in the next step without further purification.
