Procedure
To a -78° C. solution of 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-6,7-dihydro-[5H]-pyrrolo[1,2-a]imidazole (2.0 g, 0.010 mole) in 60 ml of tetrahydrofuran (THF) is added 4.0 ml of 2.5M n-butyllithium. The solution is warmed to -30° C. for 20 minutes and then tributyltin chloride (3.3 g, 0.01 mole) in THF is added. The reaction is allowed to warm gradually to 20° C. and then is quenched with saturated ammonium chloride. Further workup and purification on silica as described in Example 6b yields the titled compound.
