To a solution of methyl 6-[bis(phenylsulfonyl)amino]quinoline-3-carboxylate (0.29 g, 0.601 mmol) in methanol (2.4 mL) was added a 1 M solution of sodium hydroxide in H2O (2.4 mL, 2.4 mmol). N,N-dimethylformamide (1 mL) was added to aid solubility and the resulting suspension was stirred at room temperature for 48 h. The reaction was then warmed to 60° C. and stirred for 96 h. A solution of hydrochloric acid (1.0 M in water) was added until pH=7. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate three times. The extracts were combined, washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure and used as obtained (Int-12, 0.201 g, 61%). LC-MS: (FA) ES+ 329.
