Procedure
2.1 moles of cyclohexanone was reacted with 1 mole of TETA in the presence of hydrogen and 3.5% wt of Pt/C. A 1 L Parr pressure reactor was charged with 292.5 g of TETA, 10 g of Pt/C, and 412.2 g of cyclohexanone. The reactor was sealed and pressure cycled 3× each with nitrogen to remove air and hydrogen to remove the nitrogen. The vessel was then heated to 80° C. and pressurized to 100 psig (7.8 atm) with hydrogen and stirring at 750-1000 rpm. The temperature was held at 80° C. for 90 minutes and then raised to 100° C. and 800 psig (55.4 atm) with hydrogen for 40 minutes to complete the reaction. The reactor was cooled down to 40° C. and then down loaded.
