Procedure

8-Fluoro-1-(methylamino)-5H-pyrido[4,3-b]indole-4-carbonitrile (36 mg, 0.150 mmol) was combined with K2CO3 (55.9 mg, 0.405 mmol) and dissolved in DMSO (3 ml) followed by the addition of hydrogen peroxide (0.066 ml, 0.749 mmol). The solution was heated at 50° C. for three hr. The solution was cooled to ambient temperature directly purified by HPLC (eluted with MeCN/H2O with 1% TFA).
