Phenyl 4-methoxy-2-nitrophenylcarbamate (1.1 g) and cyclopentylamine (0.37 g) were dissolved in xylene (10 ml) and the solution was heated under reflux for 2 hrs. After allowing the reaction solution to cool, the crystals formed was filtered, washed with xylene, and dried to give 1-(4-methoxy-2-nitrophenyl)-3-cyclopentylurea (0.97 g, 87%) as crystals.
