Procedure

Ethyl 5-[ethyl(formyl)amino]-5,8-dihydro-8-oxo-1,3-dioxolo-[4,5-g]quinoline-7-carboxylate [V; R and R" are C2H5 ] was prepared from 5 g of ethyl 5-(formylamino)-5,8-dihydro-8-oxo-1,3-dioxolo[4,5-g]quinoline-7-carboxylate (Example 3), 4.5 g of potassium carbonate and 3.7 ml of ethyl iodide according to the procedure of Example 6. There was obtained 3.2 g of ethyl 5-[ethyl(formyl)amino]-5,8-dihydro-8-oxo-1,3-dioxolo[4,5-g]-quinoline-7-carboxylate, colorless granules, m.p. 218°-221° C. when recrystallized from ethanol.
