Procedure
A mixture of 5-bromopyrimidin-2-one (700 mg) and 3-bromoacetylthiophene (1.025 g) in triethylamine (0.84 ml) and ethanol (25 ml) was stirred at room temperature. After 1 h. the mixture was cooled to 3° C. and the precipitate collected. The dried solid was crystallised from ethanol to give the title pyrimidinone (475 mg), m.p. 180°-182° C. (dec), λmax (EtOH) 250.5 nm (ε 14,930), 334.5 nm (ε 3,260).
