To a solution of 2-methyl-isonicotinonitrile (330 mg, 2.79 mmol) in methanol (12 mL), hydroxylamine hydrochloride (388 mg, 5.59 mmol) and NaHCO3 (469 mg, 5.59 mmol) is added. The mixture is stirred in a sealed vial at 60° C. for 16 h before the solvent is evaporated. The residue is dried to give N-hydroxy-2-methyl-isonicotinamidine (550 mg); LC-MS: tR=0.55 min, [M+1]+=152.25.
